This rare and large lithograph by the Spanish artist, Antonio Guanse is in impeccable condition and comes professionally framed with matting. Guanse was born in 1926 and died in 2008. His work espouses the mastery of many modern and post-modern movements, and clearly takes cues from his Spanish Surrealist contemporaries, Joan Miro and Salvador Dali. This particular work, Nature morte V, emphasizes texture in the moon, adding to the overall sophistication of the work and drawing attention to the only space within the piece that remains neutral in color. Yet Guanse reminds us to not take his work too seriously, and adds a studied playfulness and whimsy in the way he plays with symmetry and form throughout the piece. His palette is bright and attention-getting, yet his use of complementary colors is expertly placed and deliberate. The extra large litho measures approximately 34.5 x 27.5 x 1.5 inches.
